Soul Journaling: Day 22

Happy Sunday everyone!

I decided to make a second "misfit" character. And here she is:

She's a bit scarier than my cat/mouse character which I kinda like...hehe

Today's Prompt:
Working on the next two page blank spread of your journal:
-First collage various papers such as dictionary pages onto your journal then dry brush with Gesso.
-Then using a permanent pen write for at least 5 minutes using the prompt ” Today I feel…” Sound familiar? ;) (The first time we did this prompt we covered the words with Gesso and not the other way around but today I want our words to symbolically show through. )

-This next part is gonna be messy. If you are worried about your manicure you may want to put on a pair of rubber gloves and it's a good idea to have some paper towels and wet wipes handy too. We are going to finger paint a self-portrait! No paintbrush or tools allowed. This may be a little frustrating but allow yourself to relax and just think about the shapes and colors. Feel the cold paint between your fingers and think about how our ancestors painted their caves, their body, and many other things using only their hands.
- Make sure you fill both pages with color. Add any personal symbols too. Remember only your hands are to paint these pages. ;)

Here's my finished painting. At first I was frustrated but then started to enjoy myself and was pretty impressed I was able to even make a face that resembled me using only my fingers. I think she looks pretty happy too. ;)

I hope you have enjoyed Soul Journaling…this is not an end but a new beginning. First, I want to thank you all again for this amazing journey. It would not have been successful without your courage and friendship. I am humbled and honored.
Secondly, I want you to know that this is not the end but a beginning for us all. Look how far we have come! I encourage you to continue working in your journals a little every day. Even if it’s just to write one or two words. I may in the future do a second installment of Soul Journaling and I do plan to sporadically post prompts on my blog when I can... so look for those.
I also wanted to mention that the awesome folks at Joggles found out about my Soul Journaling project and were so impressed that they have asked me to teach online classes for them! I pretty much have free reign to teach anything I want so of course I am jumping at this opportunity as it has always been a dream of mine to teach art.
Please keep in touch.

Love & Laughter,

AAAAAH! I thought I was almost caught up, and I'm waaaaay behind again! Real life intruded...

Thanks so much for all of this--I've posted some pix at my blog--trying to get out of the rut of using reds and golds all the time.

Congratulations on your engagement! Very exciting and romantic.

Off to collage--this project has really given me a kick start, so thanks.

Hello Sarah. I found your beautiful work at Day 14 and was so moved by the idea of having Soul Armour that I started there and then. I have enjoyed doing every aspect of the Journal, even the taped pages 5 and 6, which apart from the Soul Armour page, have turned out to be the best. I will be completing this Journal through all your steps. Wishing you happiness and success in whatever you do.
I have posted some of my Journal so far on my blog, if you would like to have a look ....

And, Congratulations on saying "yes".

Sarah - I just popped in a bit to see how the SJ project concluded (do I hear trumpets and fanfares?) and it looks awesome and inspiring! I have not yet started my SJ but will within the next week. Will be having some prolonged time (yippee!) in which to work on it. I hope you will consider making this project into a book - I could definitely see it as something like those from North Light Books. This project is so beautiful and inspiring. THANK YOU!!

Hi Laura,
The pressed flower was just for fun. I always love it when I open an old book only to discover something wonderful left inside like an old ticket stub or a pressed flower. It just makes me feel good.

Plus, I think it gave people an excuse to go buy or find some beautiful flowers...not that you should ever need an excuse. ;)

I just found you very recently and I'm so intrigued by your project here. Do you happen to have each session in a pdf format? I'd love to have them in a binder so I could work each one of them.

Hi Sarah, I have recently found your blog and I am fascinated by your Soul Journal, so much so I started my own - somewhere in the middle I think :-) perhaps you would like to look?

Ah! Forgive the offload, but I found you wonderful blog through deedee, who is fab and has been very kind to me. I've really enjoyed looking through here.

I got too bogged down in making 'sellable' pictures. I'm going through hard times at the moment, and can't sell anything, Haven't touched my art journal for ages and am all frozen up and too afraid to start again.

Your ideas are inspiring, and the way you write comes over as friendly and understanding. And whilst I may not be able to try the prompts just yet, due to health, I want to put a link to your blog on my own blog. Hope that's okay?

Hi Sarah,
I just found your blog. How wonderful your pages are...I have never done this type of journaling. You are inspiring. I used to teach Kindergarten and I loved finger painting so this is right up my alley...nothing like getting messy. Try chocolate pudding some time and your journal will smell yummy too! :)

I wanted to say how much I have got out of doing this, you have empowred me to try new things and to return to working in paint and in books, something I did as a matter of course in my student days but dwindled with age! I pledge to carry on doing a page as often as I can, I am not going to set a timescale as I won't live up to it. I am honoured to have been part of this challenge.

Having wandered over from Seth's to "meet" you, I've discovered you are the person who is responsible for so many bloggers who have been soul journaling over the last few weeks/months. I love your misfit, BTW.

Hi Paula, I'm sorry I don't have them in Pdf at this time. Sorry.
